I have always loved creating accessories! I started when I was in high school and I would make bows each day to go with what I was wearing. When I got married, I realized how hard it was to find vintage inspired accessories. I decided I was going to have to make them myself! That is how Artistry By McKenzie G was born!

I love to make accessories and to watch old movies and get more inspiration from them. I have loved working with individuals to create custom pieces, and brides with their wedding veils. Scrappy Gifts by Maryanne is a store favorite! She makes the cutest clocks and magnet boards that you will just LOVE! The magnet boards are on the right side of the check out counter and they are for such a great price. I love how cute they are and unique! Also if you'd like a creative clock for your apt/home stop by the store to see the different clocks she has made. You can put your picture on them or any graphic. Also check out her already-made scrapbooks for those who just don't have time to do it.

The Creation of Scrappy Gifts
I learned to scrapbook from my friend back in April of 2005. I've always loved taking pictures so scrapbooking provided a beautiful way to display my pictures. After a few short months, scrapbooking came so naturally to me (I even dream about the perfect layout pages), and I wanted to share with everyone my talents. First I held classes for friends. I am a wife to an aspiring illustrator for the last 5 years and a mom to a wonderful 15 month old boy. I graduated in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University- Idaho in December 2007. My husband graduated in Art from Brigham Young University- Idaho in December 2009. We're both originally from the Chicago area and currently live in Sugar City while we figure out where to go next.

The Essig Motif Bio:

I was born and raised in Pasadena CA. and moved to rexburg to attend BYU-I in winter 2005, met my husband in october 2007 and we were married august 2007. We had a baby girl in october 2008 and named her Mary Ellen Essig but she goes by Ellie for short. After I had ellie in the hospital I hated the fact that her hands and feet weren't covered and all the socks that I put on her would slip right off, and so when i got out of the hospital I made the no-scratch mittens, and booties, so that she could be protected even when she kicked her blankets off.

For me nursing was a very special/convient thing, that I really enjoyed doing, however i was really self concious when i would go places and have to nurse, I was always scared that my back would show, and I rarely had a chair to conviently nurse in, so I created the cover-up nursing cover, so that I could nurse whenever and where ever I went. Everyone that saw it made comments about how much they liked it, so I decided that i should share my idea with others. It has been very rewarding to know that I have helped other women enjoy nursing with out the stress of being immodest.

I graduated from college in april 2009 with a B.S. in university studies and a minor in home and family. My major was origionally Art for the first 3 years, and when i got pregnant I decided that 2 more years was not pratical. Although Art continues to be my passion, the creating that I do everyday with my items in the store continues to fill that void. However I know that that one day i will continue painting again.

As for now we live in rexburg, Logan (my husband) is still attending BYU-I. Ellie is 17 months, and I am busy creating things for the store.
